E. Renae Thomas, MBA
President

Renae Thomas, a native Texan, is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin with an MBA from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She served as CFO of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Winnsboro and was later promoted to Administrator. Prior to that she spent 6 years as the Controller for Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas and 3 years at CHRISTUS St. Joseph's Health System in Paris, Texas. She enjoys spending time with her husband and children and serving in her church.


Rebecca McCain, MHA
President-Elect

Rebecca McCain holds a BBA in Accounting from West Texas A & M and a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Trinity University.  She is married, has no children, and has been the CFO at Electra Memorial Hospital and a member of TAHFA for 20 years.

As a member of TAHFA she has served on the Membership committee and continues to serve on the Education and Audit committees as well as the Board of Directors. 

Rebecca was a charter board member of the Texas Hospital Home Health Association and served that board from 1993-2000. Locally, she is a member of the Electra ISD District Planning Team and serves on Electra’s Main Street Board, the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Electra Golf Association Board of Directors.
 
 


David Jackson
Vice President

David is currently the VP/Corporate Controller for Texas Health Resources located in Arlington, Texas.  He has worked in various positions within Texas Health Resources for the past 24 years.  He holds a BAA in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma and is a Texas CPA.
 


Robert Gray
Past President

Robert E. Gray, Jr., 54 years old was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and currently serves as a Chief Financial Officer with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System assigned to Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, Texas.  Bob joined the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in May of 1997.  Formerly he was the Vice President and CFO with Dilly Uniform Company in Houston, Texas with over 27 years in Finance, Management and Administration.  Bob hold an MBA in International Development from Hope International University in Fullerton, California; an undergraduate Bachelors from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. 

Bob and his wife of 35 years, Pam have 3daughters, 2 granddaughters and 4 grandsons. Bob and Pam currently reside in Huntsville, Texas. 

Bob has served as a Director on TAHFA for the past 3 years, currently Chair of the Communications/Website Committee and he has served on the Education Committee for the past 5 years.  He also serves on the Board of Community Christian Church as an Elder.
 


Ellen Russell
Secretary

Ellen Russell currently serves as the Controller at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where she has worked for over 7 years.  Previously she worked as the Director of Fiscal Services at Denton County MHMR for 7 years and as a Financial Analyst for Raytheon for 7 years also.   She holds a BS in Accounting from University of North Texas. Ellen is from West Texas, is married with two daughters and a son.  She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.  She also serves as the treasurer for the Hopkins County Aggie Moms Club. Ellen is serving her second year on TAHFA’s Board of Directors. 
 


Shelly Miland
Treasurer

Shelly is currently the VP Finance for Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.  She has worked in various positions with Texas Health Resources for 11 years.  She holds a BS in Accounting from University of Central Oklahoma, a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from University of Texas Arlington, and is a CPA.  She also is adjunct faculty for the College of Nursing at UTA, instructing nursing leadership in Finance courses.


R. Bradley Martin
Director

Mr. Martin has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry with specific expertise in patient access, charge description masters, supply chain, managed care and capitation services, billing system processes and edits, information systems interfaces and Fiscal Intermediary claims systems processes. He is also considered a subject matter expert in healthcare revenue cycle operations, claims processing and regulatory compliance.

As a principal of RBMS, he is involved in revenue cycle, cost/charge management, regulatory compliance, litigation support and affiliated consulting engagements.  Mr. Martin is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Sciences in Applied Economics. He is a current Board Member of the Texas Association of Health Financial Administrators, a past Board Member of American Association of Healthcare Administrative Managers, and a current member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the Health Care Compliance Association.
 


Clint Owen
Director

Born in Oklahoma in 1959 where he was for the most part raised. Clint had the opportunity as a freshman in high school to move to Norway and London, England to further his education during his sophomore and junior years. Moved to Midland, Texas from Oklahoma in 1986 working in the Savings and Loan industry.  In 1989 started his carrier in Healthcare selling collection services with TRW where he was promoted and transferred to Dallas to work out of the Region Call Center. In 1996 Clint established his own Collection Agency located in Midland, Texas until it sold in 2003. Currently Clint is a Regional Manager of Business Development with Cymetrix Corporation, a Comprehensive Revenue Cycle Management firm based out of Irvine, Ca. In 21 years of working within Healthcare he has been afforded the opportunity to work alongside some great individuals as well as some good companies that has provided him a broad based background in all aspects of Revenue Cycle.

Clint is currently the co-chair on the membership committee. He also serves on the board of The South Texas Chapter of HFMA where he is currently the chair person for membership. Clint is continually active within all Texas Sate HFMA Chapters as well as AAHAM, NAHAM.

 


Sueann Parrish
Director

Suann began her career in Healthcare in 2001 at Yoakum County Hospital when she was appointed Controller and then was named CFO in 2002. Prior to working in Healthcare Suann worked in banking and finance for 5 years and in Municipal Government for 7 years. Suann holds a BBA in General Business from Texas Tech University.

Suann and Don, married 28 years, have two sons currently attending Texas Tech University.

John Dolan, MS
Director

John Dolan has been the Chief Financial Officer of Covenant Hospital Levelland since 2006.  He started his healthcare career in 2001as the Manager of Business Administration for Covenant’s Joe Arrington Cancer Center.  Prior to this John held positions in accounting & finance for a large regional bank and was part of a start-up wireless telephone provider in West TX.  John says, “He likes the challenge that the healthcare industry provides and enjoys working in a smaller hospital where he has the ability to learn and contribute to so much more than just finance.”

John received a Master of Science degree in Economics with a minor in Statistics from Texas Tech University in 1994 and recently became a Certified Healthcare Professional (CHFP) through the HFMA program.


Brian Stevens
Director


Brian Stevens was named Vice President of HealthSHARE at the Texas Hospital Association (THA), in 2007, after serving as a Regional Executive for THA and HealthSHARE in North Texas for more than two years. Previously he was with THA-endorsed company The MHA Group, the nation’s largest and leading provider of clinical health care staffing and physician search, where he was responsible for the development and management of the Texas territory. Stevens also has experience in health care sales and marketing, as well as technology and financial services.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Texas Society of Association Executives (TSAE), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Texas Association for Healthcare Financial Managers (TAHFA). Stevens is serving his second year on Board of Directors of TAHFA and is currently the Chair of the Membership Committee.

Marji Henry
Director

I am the Associate VP of Systems Improvement at Scott & White. I have led our organization’s Lean effort from inception. Scott &White was one of 10 health systems presenting at an Institute for Healthcare Improvement forum last summer titled, “How Do They Do That? Low-Cost, High-Quality Health Care in America.” I have been in Healthcare for 25 years. I am certified in Lean Healthcare from the University of Michigan.
 


Joann Hernandez
Director


Stan Sewell, BSB
Director

Stan is a graduate of The Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University.  After graduation he served in the United States Air Force and the Oklahoma Air National Guard in Medical Administration.  He has been a member of TAHFA for three years and served on the Education Committee 2009-2010.  He currently serves as Co Chairman of the Education Committee and as a member of the Board of Directors for TAHFA.  Stan is also a member of the Lone Star Chapter of HFMA.

Currently he serves as Vice Chairman of the Collin County Planning Board.  Stan was elected to two terms as a member of the Carrollton Texas City Council and served as Mayor Pro Tem, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Solid Waste Committee.  While living in Southern California, he served on the Anaheim Budget Committee and as a council assistant to one of the Anaheim City Council members.

Stan is with Dallas based Healthcare Reimbursement Services (HRS) in Business Development.  He enjoys traveling, politics, collecting glass art, and Oklahoma Sooner football.
