Compliance: Honing in to Minimize Financial Risk
Elizabeth Madzik - Texas Health Resources
A strong compliance program is essential to your hospital’s financial success. It is not hard to find risk areas that involve the potential for negative financial consequences. This is evidenced by increased audits, reviews and settlements involving the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Recovery Audit Contractors, the Texas Medicaid program, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), to name just a few. Participants will learn how to identify and prioritize risks; what some of the top compliance risk areas are in the current environment; and how to monitor improvement initiatives. The seven basic elements of a robust compliance program will also be reviewed. Regulatory changes, tight governmental budgets and technological advancements make compliance risks a moving target! Learn how to “home in” on the target and minimize your financial risk at the same time.
